Timbers Treatment Against
Xylophages Larvae Insects

Capricorne Lyctus Vrillette

   Definition

The insects larvae (capricorns beetles, “lyctus”, “vrillettes”) hollow galleries and sink into the wood to feed themselves, reducing the matter in flour. They throw this flour back. Then these larvae get closer to wood surface and become nymphs. At last, being females or males, these perfect insects make a hole in wood surface to fly away.

   Damages

This way, xylophage insects larvae can modify the solidity of your frame woods or your floors (oak, chestnut, pine, fir, spruce….)

   Diagnosis

Even your new or your old wood may be attacked without something noticeable. Your wood is new, you can’t see anything noticeable : it may be attacked : a specialist only will be able to determine the real insects using technical and characteristic clues.

   Treatment

It is necessary to stop these attacks and to prevent their renewal using adapted treatments. The method contains several phases :

      • The boring : permits to locate attacked woods,
      • The cutting down : consists in eliminating worm-eaten woods,
      • The brushing and dust removal : makes the insecticide penetration          easier,
      • The deep treatment : injection in each piece
      • The surface treatment (spraying).

   Attestation

Our firm holds the professional attestation and qualification with the CTBA+ (interest and state-approved organism created under the 22/07/1948 law) It is the only Industry Ministry registered organism which can give attestations. Its mission is centered on technical aid, research and quality control. The CTBA+ may send a technician to check if the treatment is in accordance with the in force norms. This way, customers s'interests is protected. This inspection is made free on some random C.R.I. works (it is always the same in quality control). Further to the expert appraisal and after wood samples test, the CTBA+ delivers a report confirming or invalidating some possible works faults.
