Anti Termites Treatment

     Regulations in force in France

     To protect buyers and buildings owners against termites and others xylophage insects, a law was adopted at the “Assemblée Nationale” on 20 May 1999. It appeared on the dated 8 June 1999 Official Journal.

     It was made to inform people better about infested areas, to hold back contamination progression, to give means to reduce infested areas and to help in property transactions.

     The main measures concern first the obligation for people to declare termites presence, for the authorities to make the infestation zone.

     Termites research and treatment in areas delimited by the Town Council are now compulsory.

     Before a property transaction, the seller call an expert to visit the building and make a termites research, then a parasitic state is established. This document is compulsory to have the deed firmed.

     An expert can’t have a treatment activity.

     In infested areas, measures are taken to regulate the transport of materials which may contain termites.
